Ikigai Book Summary

Book on "The Japnese Secret to a Long and Happy Life".

The book walks us through the life of supercentenarians of Japan.

How they lived this long? What they did? What they eat?

They lived simple life. They eat 80% but with nutritional food. They drank green tea.

They moved a lot during the day. Not hard exercises and all. Just moving around doing light exercise and work everyday.

Lived in harmony with neighbours and their community.

They woke up early. Slept early. Eat well and enough with variety in their diet. Found their "ikigai" and worked for it.

They had secondary work along with the primary job. Backup.

Intense focus on their "ikigai".

Went through viktor frankl's Logotherapy as well. Related to life meaning and stuff.

I will be re-reading the chapters or pages and try to apply.

So things from the book,

To keep healthy and have a long life,
eat just a little of everything with relish,
go to bed early, get up early, and then go out for a walk.
We live each day with serenity and we enjoy the journey.
To keep healthy and have a long life,
we get on well with all of our friends.
Spring, summer, fall, winter,
we happily enjoy all the seasons.
The secret is to not get distracted by how old the fingers are;
from the finger to the head and back once again.
If you keep moving with your fingers working, 100 years will come to you.
